Membership Platform and Salesforce Integration for SBID

The Society of British Interior Design (SBID) is the leading professional body for interior designers in the UK, providing resources, networking opportunities, and accreditation to its members. SBID needed a new digital platform that would not only represent its authority in the sector but also deliver real, tangible value to its members.
Make Do were appointed to design and build a custom membership system on WordPress that could integrate seamlessly with SBID’s existing back-office infrastructure. The project involved extensive design work to ensure the platform matched the premium quality and creativity of the interior design industry, while remaining user-friendly and highly functional.
Custom Membership Portal
At the heart of the platform was a comprehensive membership system. Members could log in to manage their profiles, create and update business listings, add team members, and share information with others in the SBID network. Additional tools such as online forums, messaging, and self-promotion features were also developed to encourage networking and collaboration across the community.
To further showcase the creativity of its members, we designed and built an e-commerce style gallery feature. This allowed interior designers and firms to upload and manage their products, creating a professional portfolio-style presence on the site. While the system was not transactional – users do not purchase directly through the site – it served as a powerful promotional tool, helping members display their work and connect with potential partners or clients.

One of the most complex and crucial parts of the project was integrating the membership system with SBID’s Salesforce CRM.
The process ensured that when a user signed up for SBID Pro, their account data was automatically synced with Salesforce, keeping all membership details accurate and centralised.
This eliminated the risk of duplication, streamlined admin processes, and allowed SBID to focus on delivering value to members rather than managing fragmented systems.
The result was a fully bespoke membership platform that combined design excellence with robust functionality.
SBID’s new site now acts as both a professional hub and a networking platform, empowering interior designers to connect, collaborate, and showcase their work.
