What is Front End North (FEN)?

Front End North (FEN) is a community-driven front-end web conference founded by Make Do in 2014.

It began as an affordable, inclusive event for developers and designers, with a strong focus on accessibility, performance, UX, and best practice.

Ticket prices are kept intentionally lower than similar events to make the conference more accessible, keeping in line with grassroots, community-oriented values that we carried over from our TheDigitalBarn event.

In 2019, Make Do handed the conference over to the local Front End Sheffield team, who ran follow-up events in 2020 and then 2025 following the same grassroots format and community focus.
