Beyond “Support” as an Agency. What even is it? Our 2026 pivot to Systems & Consultancy

It’s 6 weeks into the year, Valentine’s Day is around the corner, and our agency is just done getting organised for the year. The tinsel is long gone, the “New Year, New Me” LinkedIn posts have faded, and we’ve spent this time looking hard at where we actually provide the most value to the people we work with.

What even is “support” when you really think about it?

People hear “support” and think “plugin updates” or a developer doing a “quick favour.” It’s a “bottom-feeding” market dominated by low-cost, low-value noise. But for the large, traditional, and industrial organisations we partner with, that isn’t support…

It’s a risk.

To combat this in 2026, Make Do is shifting our language around WordPress management services. We are moving away from the ‘generalist supplier’ label to better align with what we actually do (and have been doing for a decade). That is serving as a dedicated Systems, Support & Strategic Consultancy.

The 6-Year Evolution

The reality is that this is actually what we’ve always done. We’ve been building toward this for almost 6 years, ever since we first implemented our WordPress Service Level Agreement in 2019.

Back then, we made the choice to shift our main focus away from one-off small projects and brochure websites to focus on ongoing, high-level “support” services.

We’ve grown significantly since then, and the real challenge now isn’t the work itself it’s the language we use to describe what it is.

As an agency we have to reframe what “support” actually means because it really isn’t paying $49 a month for a “care plan” where some random company just presses the upgrade button every now and again.

What even is “support” when you really think about it?

“Support” is a terrible way to describe what we do.

In our world, it’s consultancy advice and deep-level bug fixes. Yes, it’s plugin updates (of course!) but it’s also rigorous testing, QA and continual improvement. It’s the growth of a website that started small and needed to be migrated to multiple servers to make room for millions of hits.

It’s performance.

Oh my God, the performance! A website can never be too fast.

It’s the highly technical SEO that actually helps get your content crawled and the leads flowing.

I could go on… I could list every project, campaign, small system tweak, API integration, and CRM sync that we’ve built over the past few years to explain what “support” has been to us BUT fundamentally, calling all that “support” just doesn’t cut it anymore.

This is our lane

Our lane is high-complexity engineering, technical WordPress agency work and “Operational Systems” because these are the digital platforms that keep a business moving, ensuring data ownership and sovereignty and long-term resilience.

Things like:

  • Intranet or Extranet Portals: Secure, bespoke environments for your people and partners.
  • Resource Centres & Hubs: High-availability hubs for critical business data.
  • Training Systems: Scalable platforms for institutional knowledge.
  • Integrations: The deep-level engineering that connects your website to your core business APIs and legacy systems.

Free resources that align with our new plans for 2026

To help you navigate this shift, we’ve put together three resources that reflect our move toward high-stakes consultancy:

Moving Beyond the “Handshake”

We are shifting our mindset from basic “support” and “delivery” to “Strategic Consultancy” and “Digital System Stewardship”.

We aren’t just here to execute tasks and respond to tickets, we are here to provide the technical leadership that ensures your digital infrastructure remains an asset, not a liability.

Request a Strategic Systems Review

Most organisations treat their digital platforms as a background task until something breaks. If your site powers your operations, “basic care” isn’t enough.

Let’s look at your technical debt, your speed, and your roadmap for 2026. Stop relying on “plugin updates” and start investing in your system’s performance, fill in the form below and we’ll get back to you ASAP:
