St Johns Hospice Charity Website Design & WordPress Development

The whole design and build process was seamless. Make Do really know how to drive projects forward

Nial Finn – St John’s Hospice, Doncaster

When St John’s Hospice in Doncaster was referred by one of Make Do’s former NHS clients, the charity had no web experience and no online presence. The NHS charity needed to create its first ever website to build profile and boost fundraising for palliative care.

The Challenge

Limited budgets and multiple stakeholders are commonplace in the NHS but St John’s Hospice, Doncaster also brought another challenge.

The team needed us to create an easy to use website which would simultaneously appeal to very different audiences. Make Do was asked to devise a site which re-assured patients, had a clinically-focused services section, raised awareness and generated income through a donations area.

Our Process and Implementation

Make Do suggested additional sections for volunteers and news and we wrote compelling content for the site. We gave each section a distinct identity and created a design to appeal to a wide audience. The Make Do team provided training and support to make sure the charity’s growing team would know how to make the most of the site.

An experience made for mobile

With stakeholders suitably prepared and invested, we worked closely to deliver a simple and effective responsive website that looks just as good today.

Project Benefits

The profile of St John’s Hospice has improved significantly since we launched the site and donating through the website is simple and quick. Successful fundraising is underpinning a building programme and major improvements to patient facilities.  We’re very proud of this job for obvious reasons.
