Courtauld Shop Online Store

The Courtauld Gallery, based in Somerset House on the Strand, is one of Britain’s finest art museums and part of The Courtauld Institute of Art. The gallery has a successful shop on site but also has an eCommerce site where art lovers can buy products inspired by the artists they admire.

The Courtauld Gallery Shop needed a fully redesigned website which worked in tandem with its physical store, supported stock control and complemented the wider Courtauld Gallery brand.

Make Do completely reinvigorated the Shop website and have left it strong and extremely high-functioning. Managing stock is now easy for our staff and customers can buy online.

The existing site was outdated and needed to be integrated with an electronic point of sale system. It had to be quick and simple for staff to update. The full build had to be completed in line with Courtauld brand guidelines.

The site also needed to be fully responsive and mobile friendly allowing for customers to order from any device.

WordPress & WooCommerce Implementation

The design and development process took many months working with initial wireframes from the client and integrating new custom eCommerce features such as:

  • Discount codes
  • Product galleries
  • Advanced search and filtering
  • Integration with newsletter and CRM software
  • A fully manageable homepage powered by a rich product category system

Make Do built a bespoke WordPress site and imported products from the existing site. Make Do’s talented team integrated WooCommerce with an electronic point of sale system and 3rd party API to ensure seamless stock control and improve online store management.

Business Benefits

Courtald Shop staff can now manage all stock control automatically. Jewellery, books, fashion and homewares can now be accessed quickly and blogs and an easy newsletter sign up form delivers data to the organisation.
