Keeping secrets is hard, especially one like this! We’re incredibly pleased and proud to share that one of our favorite and long-standing clients Fun Palaces has been awarded £1.5m in National Lottery Funding.
This funding will go towards helping people across the UK (in England, Wales and Scotland) to create and manage Fun Palace events & activities.

The £1.5m grant will support the work of the Fun Palaces campaign over the next 5 years (2019 – 2024). Central to this is a part-time team of twelve, six of whom will be new Fun Palaces Ambassadors based in partner organisations across the UK, while continuing three of our current Ambassador roles.

The Future of Fun Palaces
Our team has been supporting Fun Palaces over 5 years. We built the first iteration of their complex website back in 2014 and have consistently updated it year-on-year for each event since then.
The next steps are somewhat secret! But some of the funding will inevitably be used to re-work and update the website to add new features.
We’ll be working hard starting late 2019 on an overhaul of the technical framework on which the website runs and also making changes to the design and UX of the site based on community feedback and new ideas from the Fun Palaces team.
It’s very early days but our team are looking forward to getting on with what should be a challenging and rewarding project.

Signups for the 2019 Fun Palaces are now open! Here’s a breakdown of what to expect this year:
Today we launch signups for our sixth weekend of Fun Palaces. In just over six years we have grown from a tiny idea to an annual weekend of action and an ongoing campaign for community at the heart of culture.
To date there have been 1367 Fun Palaces made by 32,800 Makers with 450,000 people taking part in 11 countries, and we’re grateful to every one of you for joining in and making Fun Palaces your own.
