JCI UK
Rescuing and Completing a Member-Based WordPress Platform for Junior Chamber International
Client: JCI UK
The Junior Chamber International (JCI) is a member-based non-profit organisation encouraging young people to take part in social and economic development programmes worldwide. Their website is a vital tool for member engagement, event promotion, and organisational growth.
When JCI approached Make Do, the project was in a precarious state. Their new WordPress site had been started by another agency but left unfinished, incomplete, and riddled with technical concerns. The brief was clear: evaluate what had been done, address the issues, and deliver a functioning site that met the original specification.
Taking over a half-completed project is always challenging. Our first step was to perform an in-depth code review, identifying weaknesses in the existing build and mapping them against the original plans. We migrated the unfinished platform to a more stable server for testing and further development, uncovering several structural issues in the process. These findings led us to recommend adjustments to the system architecture to ensure long-term reliability and ease of management.
With the technical foundation secured, we followed through on the original specification to get the system up and running.
Rescuing an incomplete WordPress build
Make Do stepped in when we needed them to get the job done and update our membership website.
We are still working on this as an ever evolving and on-going project with the help and support of their experienced team.

Ben Hawley – Chairman JCI UK
The completed site delivered improved accessibility for members, integrated eCommerce functionality, and a stronger user experience overall. The final product not only met JCI’s initial expectations but also provided a much more stable and future-proof platform than the version we inherited.
This project exemplifies one of Make Do’s key strengths and how we can step in to rescue and complete unfinished WordPress projects.
By combining technical expertise with practical consultancy, we were able to turn a problematic, half-built system into a reliable and effective digital platform for an international non-profit.
